Foal #5: Smokey Grulla Roan Filly

We are thrilled with our first Lusitano x Quarter Horse cross to produce an Azteca. The Lusitano is the cow horse of Portugal and has a long, interesting history of intelligence and versatility. (More information in the link below). The Quarter Horse is also prized for its versatility and cow sense. The resulting Azteca is a breed that originated in Mexico when they began to cross Iberian horses (the Spanish Andalusian or the Portuguese Lusitano with Quarter Horses or Mexican Criollos).

These horses can do it all - ranch work, the show pen, Dressage, Western Dressage, Working Equitation, Ranch Versality, trail riding, etc., etc. The good minds and great temperaments of both the Lusitano and Quarter Horse combine to make an amazing partner.
